The house was built in the early 1800’s and was opened as a stately maternity hospital in 1834 and remained so up to the year 1983, making it nearly 200 years old. Many local Irish and those who emigrated from this area would have been born in Highfield House. A host of original, antique interior features still remain including high ceiling rooms, wooden floors and wooden ceiling beams. Highfield House is surrounded by beautiful gardens for guests to experience.
